How can you tell if your disability will get you benefits?

by | Feb 2, 2019 | social security disability

If you have recently received an injury that is keeping you from being able to resume your responsibilities at your job in Kentucky, you may be curious if you qualify for Social Security disability benefits. Inquiring into your options can never hurt, but it is also important that you are aware of what the requirements are so that you can be efficient and effective with the time you have.

Once you decide to apply, you should read through the application in its entirety before you begin filling it out. If you have questions about some of the content, you can contact your local Social Security office and speak with a representative who can guide you through the definition of certain sections. A carefully filled out application that has all of the requested details will get you a lot further than one that has been quickly filled out but is sloppy or incomplete.

According to the Social Security Administration, if your disability is one that will require you to take at least a year away from your job or has prevented you from assuming the tasks you were previously in charge of, you may be eligible to begin receiving benefits. The people who look over your application will analyze your answers to a series of questions about your health history, your condition and the consequences of your disability in determining your eligibility to receive benefits.
