Nursing Home Abuse

Senior Abuse

As our population ages, senior abuse and nursing home abuse are on the rise. If your loved one shows any of the following signs of abuse, act immediately.

  • Untimely or unexplained death
  • Infected bedsores or pressure ulcers
  • Unexpected falls
  • Unexplained injuries like broken bones or sprains, head injuries, bruises, burns, cuts or abrasions
  • Medication errors or overdoes
  • Malnutrition and dehydration
  • Unsanitary or unclean conditions

Does your loved one show any agitation, withdrawal or fear; frequent crying; or complaints of poor treatment? These can also be signs of abuse.
Families place their trust in nursing homes to provide the care their loved ones need, but nursing homes are often understaffed. As a result certified nurse assistants are required to care for more residents than they can handle.
